Welcome

As a Canadian expat in the Netherlands, I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families who are also navigating life abroad.

Whether you are dealing with the stress of relocation, parenting challenges, communication struggles, or the emotional toll of change, my goal is to help you reconnect, reflect, and move forward with clarity.

I am a NIP registered Psychologist and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology.

I offer therapy sessions in English, both online and in person in The Hague, where I’m part of the warm and dedicated team at Calm Waters Psychology, Counselling & Family Support Services.

About Me

As an expat who’s spent the last eight years living in Belgium and now the Netherlands, I understand firsthand the challenges of building relationships, studying, working, and parenting across cultures. While living abroad can feel like an exciting adventure, it can often bring moments of loneliness, anxiety, loss, and a sense of dependency.

In addition to my background in psychology I also have an academic foundation in cultural geography. This gives me a deeper understanding of how place, space, and identity shape who we are and how we relate to the world around us. It's a perspective I bring into my work with expats and intercultural couples.

My path into counselling started during the decade I spent working with youth in government programs. I saw so many young people prescribed medication for anxiety and depression without ever being offered therapy or a safe space to talk about their experiences. That disconnect really stuck with me.

Today, I work from a person-centered and interactional approach to psychotherapy, while intergrating aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Brainspotting into my practice. I believe that people thrive when they are met with empathy, openness, and genuine acceptance. I’m deeply interested in the stories people carry and in helping them find a sense of belonging. A lot of my work focuses on the patterns we form in relationships—because when we understand how we relate to others, we can begin to create healthier, more connected ways of being.

Your Questions Answered

If your question is not answered here, please feel free to reach out. If you would like to discuss your questions and learn more about my approach to therapy, book below for a free online 20-minute introduction call.

  • Whether you're attending individually or as a couple, and whether sessions are online or in person, the first session offers a gentle starting point for you to share your story and reflect on what’s bringing you to therapy at this point in time.

This initial conversation is designed to offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can begin to experience what it feels like to be truly heard. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how the therapist works, and to start imagining how you might work together as your therapeutic journey unfolds.

  • The number of sessions varies for each person, depending on the nature and complexity of your concern. Everyone comes to therapy with their own story and therefore requires a unique approach to therapy that works for them. We will create a tailored treatment plan that is suited to you and your needs.

On average, I recommend four sessions as a start for you to find benefit in Psychotherapy. Some clients may, however, benefit sooner and some may benefit from a longer duration of therapy. As such, I will be able to provide a clearer picture of the number of sessions after our first session.

  • As an internationally trained, private practice, I am not affiliated with any Dutch Insurance companies. However, you may be able to claim sessions through private insurance or corporate wellness accounts. Please contact your insurer or employer before you book your first session.

  • Yes. I believe that therapy should be accessible to those who need it, and therefore offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for clients when feasible.

You may be eligible for a discounted rate if you are:

    • A single parent or caregiver with limited income

    • A student or recent graduate with limited income

    • Unemployed and experiencing financial hardship

    • Facing unexpected life events or transitions (ex. refugee, immigration, etc.)

If cost is a concern, I warmly invite you to reach out to discuss your situation and explore options together, including referrals if needed.

  • I work with Stripe for processing payments which supports a host of different payment options, including iDeal, Bancontact, Apple/Google Pay, and credit and debit cards.

Depending on your preference, payments can be made in-person or by invoice at the end of each session.

Please get in touch if you require alternative payment methods or have any questions regarding payment.

  • Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 working hours in advance. This allows the opportunity to offer the space to someone else who may be waiting for an appointment.

If a session is missed without notice or cancelled late, the full consultation fee will be charged or invoiced to you.

Cancellations and rescheduling can be easily managed through the online booking tool. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to get in touch.
